About

Original songs, written at home.

Packet Loss Publishing is the independent publishing home for the songwriting of Tim Murphy, based in West Georgia. It brings four very different sounds together in one catalog: Americana and gospel, outlaw country-trap, Southern gothic and yacht rock.

Who we are

A songwriter and a catalog

Tim writes the songs. Many of them start with the people and places around him. Over time the songs outgrew a single sound, so each style got its own name, and Packet Loss Publishing is the single place that holds them all.

Tim has spent his career in IT, and anyone in that world knows packet loss: pieces of a message that never make it across. Songs are how he gets the whole message through.

How the music is made

Written by a person, produced with AI

The lyrics, concepts and direction are Tim’s. The music is produced with AI music tools, guided by Tim’s style choices and refined until it fits the song. We say so plainly because anyone licensing a song deserves to know how it was made.

The songs are original and are not imitations of any real artist.

The catalog

Four voices

  • Packet Loss Originals — Americana and gospel, with tributes to the military and first responders.
  • Kyle Winters — outlaw country with trap beats.
  • Black Pine Hollow — Southern gothic and dark electronica.
  • Marina Nights — smooth, sun-faded yacht rock.

The songwriter

About Tim Murphy

Tim is the songwriter behind Packet Loss Publishing. He has spent more than twenty years in enterprise IT, building and fixing the systems people rely on every day, and he writes songs in the hours around that work.

He writes the lyrics, records his own vocals and builds each song with AI music tools. The songs are released under four names: Packet Loss Originals, Kyle Winters, Black Pine Hollow and Marina Nights. He makes the music from his home in West Georgia.

He also built PorchDirector, the video-production tool he uses to turn each song into a finished music video.
